Anthrocon 2018 - wasn't there but watched it live
7 years ago
Once again I "attended" Anthrocon via their livestream for 2018, as I have done for 2016 and 2017. I really didn't have anything new to show off yet or great purpose for being there this year (although I missed some new fursuiters I would have really liked to meet and photograph), and I'm in the hole money-wise, so I canceled my plans in Feb for AC2018 and stayed at home. Had a lot of fun following the con live on the stream though; spotted my friends, talked to some of them via texts, and saw the major events I would have gone to had I been there. In fact, on Monday I felt like I had been to the con, complete with PCD! Through the LiveStream, I saw:
* Thursday Night Dance
* Opening Ceremonies
* Foxes & Peppers concert
* Uncle Kage's Story Hour
* An Evening with Kage & Alkali
* Friday Night Dance
* Fursuit Parade (thankfully someone streamed this, was not on ACtv)
* Anthrocon Tonight
* Floor Wars
* Saturday Night Dance
* Dance Competition
* Closing Ceremonies
Now, I am enjoying watching videos and checking out pictures of the con as they are gradually uploaded.
However... it turned out it was a good thing I did not pursue my plans to go to Anthrocon this year. A week before the con, I drove back from a visit to the beach and the next day my car engine was suddenly overheating. Took it in for repair and turns out it was a cracked engine block, so my car was dead. Repair or a new car were both expensive options, which sends me further into debt. Went with a new engine replacement, just got my car back today. $$$ But it's kind of cool knowing my car engine is starting out with zero mileage on it. I've got to get a job that's closer to home... I probably ran this vehicle into the ground with all these years of running long distance every day.
I am excited about and planning on attending Anthrocon 2019 next summer!

Yes, it’s not as good as being there, but it is less expensive, and you get a lot more sleep.
