Reflecting on 2018, part 1

While most everyone else was doing this the final week of December or the first week of January, I am just now finally getting around to reflecting on my 2018 year experiences. Too long to post all in one part, so I'll review my cons in this part 1, and hopefully get around to my other life events later:
Happy to say I made it to 4 conventions in 2018: Furthe'more, Furrydelphia, FA:United, and the New Year's Furry Ball.
My highlight of Furthe'more was the dance competition, with the appearance of Dibs Dingo as "Drag" Dibs. Absolutely loved this character!! Now this fursuiter is a favorite of mine. Good dancer, too! See the performance here --> https://youtu.be/3IgPQQCfflo
Finally tried out my new DSLR camera. Thought a lot of the pics were coming out blurry, but later when I looked at them on the computer, most of them looked great! Never posted any, though. Also attended the Foxes & Peppers concert, that's always good. Went to a "Parents in the Fandom" panel run by guest artist Kalika, where I was able to show off my Leostarr partial to a number of families attending. Saw West and her pretty new tiger fursuit Mai Tai. Met some nice new friends (Mabel & Mochan, among others), and got to see Cricket Deer again (who had moved far away but flew back to visit for the con). Had a nice home-cooked dinner with friends Cheesbeagle and Tigris before I left for home on Sunday night.
I was able to attend Furrydelphia on a one day Saturday pass. I got to fursuit a number of times, and met a mother and daughter fursuiting together in the headless lounge (amazing realistic German Shepherd fullsuit). A number of familiar fursuiters were at this con. I picked up some artwork that was owed me (that I commissioned & paid for 3 years prior)... actually that was the primary motivation for me to come to this con, to track down the artist and push the issue... I did that and I finally got the art. Mission accomplished.
Saw Sarahcat there! And Nevask! And Buttsteak! And Kalika! Watched Von Diggity Dog's Furries Got Talent show, which was great. Just like FTM, I took a bunch of pictures but never posted them anywhere.
Big con of the year for me was FA:United in VA. Got my own room (which I plan to do from now on) for this con, which was a nice peaceful refuge when I needed to get away for rest and quality alone time. Really nice room, too! Went to a number of interesting panels, performed "Nights in White Satin" at the talent show on my flute, and saw a number of friends. One of the highlights of this con for me was, Friday night I was down the hallway in the corner by myself playing the piano that was there, in fursuit, and all of a sudden there was applause, and (surprised) I looked up to see 3 nice attendees complimenting my playing! Made me feel great. One of them was a fursuiter named Poptart. All 3 of them came to the talent show the next day to support me in my flute performance. Thanks, new friends! Loved the dance competition- was good to see Dibs Dingo out on the dance floor again, and I always look forward to Neko's dance performances. Went to a Dance Workshop panel which had attendee participation... it was a bit intimidating but also very encouraging. Found someone's lost art badge lying out in the parking lot and, with the help of some others, was able to find and return it to the owner before they left on Sunday afternoon. My weekend at FA:U was a really refreshing get-away vacation, which was much needed.
And, I finally made it to the New Year's Furry Ball! With female company this time, too (I'm usually by myself); happy to say she had a great time. Got our own room; hotel was beautiful and was the most luxurious room I ever had. Brought my DSLR camera (which had not been used since FTM) and got a bunch of pictures. Most of my phone pictures turned out blurry, so was glad I had the big camera along as well. Everyone I saw behaved in a decent, civilized manner. They opened the bar for free drinks before dinner which was cool, and the buffet dinner was wonderful. Saw Cheesebeagle and Tigris, Sarahcat, Kimmi Cocoa, Dibs Dingo, Poptart, DeStar, and a lot of other fursuiters. Mabel and Mochan, who I had met at FTM, were there too. Best New Year's Eve party I've ever been to. Rang in the new year with champagne. By 1 am, everything seemed to be over and no fursuiters could be found.
