It's un-fun in a general context, but this is quite fascinating. Psychology is one of those areas of science that's a huge interest to me personally. It can even start to become very scary when you realize how certain people around you are exhibiting many if not all of these behaviours and just how dangerous a few of them really are.

Pretty much. And the thing about narcissistic personality disorder is that it is so prevalent. Something like 10% of the population is believed to have some level of narcissism to the point of it being a psychological disorder... 10%. That doesn't seem very high but it really is when you consider population.

I find it intensely fascinating to learn about all this, even though sometimes it makes me get very self-conscious about my damage (since all the signs point to having been raised by one.) Things like being emotionally stunted (boy howdy is that the truth for me) as well as some of the indicators being that I display hypersexualized behaviour. It's not something I really talk about all that much, but I am a slut. Not the "owning your body" kind where it's about reclaiming your sexual agency, it's more that if I get past a certain point in terms of sexual arousal, I stop existing as a person and start to exist as a thing to be used for someone else's sexual gratification.

That isn't to say that it's all because of a narc... but that is a big part of what I grew up with. And knowing what sort of damage exists in me is a good thing since then I can figure out how to fix that part of me (which is likely to be hard since I'm officially "over the hill.")

Psychology often is. Though this is one of those disorders that's flown under the radar for so long mainly because narcs often don't see themselves as damaged, and refuse to accept that there is even a problem.

And there are a lot of people in the world (and in the fandom too) that show signs of being a narc... So, this is part PSA so people can be aware of them.
