Im legit terrified

So my father is in his mid 60's and recently sort of retired from his job. To help supplement his income he continues to work as the Town I grew up in's Civil defense department as its director. Adding to his retirement fund.
The issue is that he is a hard core, right wing guy that believes to his core that Donald Trump should be installed as President for Life. Every word the man says he clings too as the unspoken Truth.
To give an idea of how disconnected he is from reality, I write this to you Reddit as he and my mother are ON AN AIRPLANE COMING FROM LAS VEGAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE THIRD WAVE OF THE PANDEMIC with my mother, whom has been on and off chemo for years because of Multible Scheloris (Which is an neurological disorder brought on by the immune system attacking the nervous system) She is incredibly vulnerable. So he loaded her onto an airplane and wont wear a mask if he can get away with it.
When I asked him about how many people had died of covid in town(Which would be his job to know) He scoffed and said "9, we had 15 that died of flu this year." I asked him this in July. I told him
"So in a nut shell, youre not in the flu season and you have had roughly 70% more deaths for something you keep insisting is a normal flu?"
His usual story of "Grow up When I was your age I was buying a house" he loves to throw out.
The thing is if you ask him in a professional manner at his job as Civil defense Director about the pandemic he'll tell people "We are taking some precautions, No need to panic" He himself is both putting my mother in danger and the lives of hundreds of people when he isn't taking this pandemic seriously.
The thing is he's in Massachusetts. An area that is best known for having Public healthcare, or as my father calls it "Commiecare"(His words not mine) My mothers MS makes her uninsurable in any other state.
So here is the reason Im posting this. I know if his personal feelings where to become publically known. Say calling up the local newspaper with the story and pictures. Given he is in such a Liberal area, The city would be more than happy to boot his ass out.
For years the local Fire department has been trying to absorb his department to get a bigger budget. This would be the perfect excuse for them to do so.
Again though, Its not like in all other situations involving disasters in his 20 years doing this job he's done a bad job. The hand full of times Disaster relief was called he was cited as "An excellent and diligent Leader and manager"
We're talking a fire, or big story, train derailment with hazardous chemicals. Not a years long pandemic. I feel as his personal beliefs make him unable to objectively see the severity of what's happening and putting so many people in danger.
But if I do call him out publicly I could in theory have an issue were whom or what ever replaces him maybe worse.
TLDR My father is to wrapped in his own BS to deal with the pandemic for an entire town

If my home county, Macomb County, Michigan, voted as heavily Democratic as the rest of the Metropolitan Detroit area does, Michigan would be a very safe Democrat State, just like your home State of Massachusetts is.
I know how you feel. There's not one but TWO hard-core Trump supporters within a 1/4 mile of my house, and for the past three weeks there's been an off-and-on Trump rally basically RIGHT OUTSIDE MY BEDROOM WINDOW.
Problem is, no one votes third party, thats why the top two candidates are always extremely rich, and usually corrupt evil choices and extremists.
Even if we forget nukes, wars involve killing thousands, millions of people. Previous wars stimulated growth, many to prevent a future war. But now, we have reached an enlightened age where we shouldn't need war. The problem we have now is corporations taking control and enslaving people rather than helping people. Worse in the USA because of our free market.
The handful of times I talk with him he treats me like Im a moron yet he has zero concept of personal responsibility for his actions.
For example he use to be a cop and has a ahand gun.
One day, before I moved out of their house, I use the bathroom and walk in. I feel something bump into my hip and a land clang. I piss and turn around. There is his handgun Loaded, round in the chamber. Saftey off. He had left it ont he bathroom sink rim.
I use to be a gun nut. From an enginieering stand point I still am interested, I just feel no desire to own a real one anymore. I was pissed. I have enough common sense to know you dont leave a loaded gun out for any reason. Especailly when he was upstairs sleeping. SO I took out the mag. Unloaded the chamber and put the damn thing in his office. Hours later he wakes up andstarts screaming that if I ever touch his gun again he'll consider it Im stealing it and shoot me. I called his bluff.
But still, your accounts are worthless alone. If it's your word against his, your word is not worth as much as someone with years of satisfactory performance as a government employee, and if ever confronted he will just put up his 'shield' and start pretending he is a reasonable person (While seething inside that he can't say what he really thinks.)
Does he have any secret social media presence, perhaps, where he talks to his fellow Trump-worshipers under a pseudonym? Unless you can actually get proof of him expressing his lack of concern about the virus or - better yet - endorsing some of the conspiracy theories about it, there's nothing you can do.
I wont try to force you to vote one way or another, but do try to research for your self instead of just listen blindly to what the propagandist preach on the glowing box. An informed electorate is what has helped this nation thrive for so long, along with the rules and regulations with the checks and balances of the government. I really do wish public schools would teach Civics classes like they use to.
If Biden wins Next week. Ill set up a go fund me to send you to any Nation Trump has praised the leadership of.
Like when he had the police tear gas Americans so he could take a picture with a bible.
So which nation would you Prefer?
He said some very nicet hings about CHina at the start of the pandemic. He has love letters from Kim Jong Un. I hear russia is great this time of year.
He sorta said some nice things about the UK but they have social healthcare.
I'm stoked that the President has gotten four middle east nations to sign peace accords/ treaties with Israel. Peace in the middle East is a big deal. And the president has been working to bring our troops home but both the war hawks on both sides are resisting.
There is no trade deal with china anymore. Trump stopped it up and it's called sting American farmers. China is using the lack of US goods as a means to expand it's trade to other nations. Squeezing out American markets. So much for "He knows how to deal with China"
And you talk about how "He's bring troops home" yet when troops are out in danger he does nothing. Russian bounties, rocket attacks on bases, Iran making nuclear weapons.
All while our allies, as a result of the lack of US leadership, say things like "We can no longer rely on American help"
Quess all those nations are just so jealous? Deal with it. You're just wrong. You were dooped by a conman.
Environmental protection laws, minimum wage, healthcare provision, workplace safety, mandatory vacation time or maternity leave, even the civil rights movement dating right back to the fifties, they have all been denounced as socialist by those who know the power of the word.
Im not gonna go into to much detail but both my uncles use to fall in with a white nationalist that was executed for murders he committed in the name of white nationism.
Im a centrist through and through. I've seen all sides of the spectrum. Extreme Right, Extreme left.
That being said, Antifa isn't the issue. Hell in the grand skeem the handful of looters are not a problem.
You can quote me on this
At some point this week Trump will "jokingly" float the idea of sending in the military to "Blue states" to ensure votes are counted. Do what ever it takes.
Basically threatening a militarty coup
That said, of course if I get mugged by a violent anarchist rioter I'd get mad but I wouldn't disclaim the entire movement because of a few rotten eggs who might even be paid actors. Historically, though, I have DAMN good reason to assume that this level of sociopathy and dishonestly is fundamentally ingrained into the alt-right
So do you have a source that backs up for feelings?
Next lets say Biden Wins next week. Will you be leaving the country?
For example when he was campaigning he said "Ill will build a wall and Mexico will pay for it. The majority of Americans knew that what an impractical lie. Four years later he had to raid military funds to build a fraction of said wall. A wall that is already over budget and already in need of repair and will cost the tax payer a fuck ton more money.
Or how he will divest his business or release his tax returns.
Sure stocks were up but wages remained stagnent. Of the 4 years he boasts how wages went up one year. Saddly that also included the very wealthy whom benefited the most. Your average American isn't doing any better than 4 years ago. In all likelyhood as a result of the pandemic your average American is worse off. With the lowest workforce per capita scince the 1970's
OH BOY.
He's trashed the second amendment an order of magnitude worse than the boogeyman Obama did, by unilaterally banning bump stocks by fiat, attempting to ban Turkish imports, killing the hearing protection act on his own personal time just for funsies, repeatedly championing red flag laws and civil asset forfeiture, giving his tacit approval on the attack on pistol braces and now smiling and nodding as the unconstitutional ATF is attempting to reclassify AR and AK platform pistols as title II AOWs and make millions of US citizens retroactive felons overnight.
He's signed off on efforts to censor the internet, the specific wording of the motions would make it so that any site which fails to censor pro-LGBTQ+ content is subject to federal penalty and liability.
He totally disassembled the public understanding of what constitutes fact, and created a precedent wherein it is perfectly okay for people to assert whatever they feel like as objective truth.
He *destroyed* our trade relations with Asia and took a bath on "renegotiating". As a direct result of his actions, billions of dollars of both agribusiness and heavy industry are on the dole, indefinitely.
He still refuses to acknowledge the most destructive natural disaster of our lifetimes because it's politically inconvenient.
It's getting close to the point where sheer incompetence can't really adequately explain everything he's done so far. He is an agent provocateur installed by globalists in order to not only unseat, but totally destabilize the prior occupier of the seat of world's premier superpower. And by effectively destroying any faith the country has in its elections or elected officials, he has done a *magnificent* job. When he refuses to concede the election, the UN, backed primarily by manpower from Russia and China will intercede, and there will be no more United States.
Was the red ballcap worth it?
It was the Basis for the ACA and has been a great sucess.
> "given he gets paid in part by Masshealth he can't be trusted"
could you elaborate on that part???
It's my belief that now, we are going to need to start making some decisions about the kind of people we want to be for the next couple of months, because it's very possible that we may be in situations where there might not be time to deliberate on long-term ramifications.
THe reason I'm saying this is because there's always both a what and a why component to each decision we make. The what part is obvious. It's the end result. The things we do, and the way we do them.
The part that's more important in this context, though, is the why.
Why do you find him so despicable?
Granted. I tend to agree with you. But the why factor will help to inform your motivation, but only if you're honest with yourself.
Is it because he openly and blindly supports a despot, or is it because of his wanton and open disregard for human life?
Use the why to inform your what, be true to the things you hold most dear in this world, never do anything purely out of spite, and you will never regret anything in your life.
There is no intelligent Trump supporter out there. They simply don't exist. Sorry.
I believe they should boot him out, he's not doing a good job if he thinks the pandemic is fake or not a threat and treats it lightly. Putting out a fire, or helping resolve an instant emergency situation doesn't absolve him of handling a pandemic wrong. Those other things are small time compared to a pandemic that grew out of control because we handled it wrong in the first place. Now we need to keep it under the threshold of health care support till we can develop a vaccine and if he's incapable of that, he needs to be replaced.
Extreme rightwingers are generally very bad people. Calling people a commie for wanting affordable health care just proves it. He sounds like someone I'd stand in front of and call an idiot straight to his face and probably insult some other ways too.
Sorry if this insults you. But, its my view and i felt like sharing.
Yes, yes, his generation bought a house straight out of highschool (or held down a part time summer job for a few years to pay for college) with a 10-year mortgage, paid it all off in 7, and saved the rest for retirement... and as soon as they had theirs, they undid every law, regulation, and government program that had made that all possible. Now we live in the dystopia the boomers built for us, where it takes 30 years to pay for a house and the average job lasts for maybe 5, and if you miss a couple of those payments in that 30 years, even if it's the last couple, the bank will gleefully take your house away. Dude's living in the past and sacrificing the future.
I'm a bit slow catching up on journals, as you can tell. Tell me, how's he taking the Biden win? :P
AFter 3 of his family died of it in 2 months he had a sort of moment where he though "Fuck. This might be serious" and the town he works in had a dozen deaths he at least admits its real and it is real serious.
Still he thinks its "Overblown" and "If we get it we get it"
What amount of power does he have regarding protecting the community from Covid?
If you worried enough, maybe phone a reporter anonymously (from payphone?).
Has your father given you any proof? (example: email or voicemail?)
(IF Massachusetts is still a Two-Party Consent State, it would be illegal to record him without his knowledge.)
A reporter could pretend to be a civilian, see your father somewhere and grumble about masks (or Covid restrictions) and see if he tells reporter his opinions about Covid.
