Was eligible for vaccination in my state on April 1st, got my first shot April 2nd. I'm 28, obese and have asthma. I had no symptoms from the shot. None. I didn't have pain or numbness in my arm, I didn't feel like I got hit by a truck, I felt a poke in my arm and that was that. Unless you are unable to get it due to medical reasons, there's literally no excuse in the US. It's not going to bankrupt you if you don't have insurance, as it's free. I understand uninsured people not wanting to go to the ER or have an ambulance called for them, but for a shot that is, again, 100% free, there's no excuse whatsoever not to get it.

I see what you are saying about the vax and would agree with you if they actually prevented you from getting covid-19 like the Polio vaccine prevents you from getting Polio, but they don't. Plus there is the animal reserve I previously mentioned, Humans aren't the only critters that have caught it and as long as it is alive in the animal population, humans will still get it. I try to stay out of such political debates and arguements in general particular from someone I'm watching as I expect to generally receive a block and miss out on art or stories that I like and as furry sites should imo remain politics free as there is more than enough drama between furries to last a lifetime... however I cannot let such a wrong/inaccurate statement stand. First off, insulting anyone will accomplish...what? That is the exact opposite as it has been shown scientifically that the only way to reach someone is to disarm them, to have normal conversations and see where and why people are hesitant on such things...

Second and most important as a healthcare worker myself I completely disagree with vaccines being the be all and end all of this. In my area alone (clinton county new york) 40%+ cases (of symptomatic, as they aren't tracing non symptomatic) covid cases are in vaccinated individuals. Of workers at this hospital in the last 4 months who have gotten it, only the vaccinated who took off their masks, and believed they were safe. As any medical professional knows who has not only worked throughout this situation for the last two years but any time prior, airborne illnesses (of which is the worst class and in certain states like New York is what they're classing covid19 as) is 95%+ preventable by an N95 (titled as such because it blocks more than 95% plus percent of particles above and below the size it's rated for.

If we were to rely on vaccines alone, the "Stop the spread" message from all government is useless as the vaccinated still get and pass along the virus at almost the same rate as the unvaccinated. They simply don't have (as many, though the rate increases a lot now) symptoms or as high a chance of death. Which is a very good success, I'm for it, good for them. But if ending the pandemic and caring about others is the end goal, then you create a society of 'Typhoid Marys' if you will, able to pass it on to those unable to get the vaccine like children, or the immunocompromised who are barely affected by a vaccine that relys on the immunity of the person receiving it. Pretend if you will that yours is the 'high-road', and that the vaccine will end this, but don't speak for all others even that support it when you haven't worked with it or been there throughout this.

Understood mostly im annoyed because the hospital near to me is at zero capacity left and are having to just let people die. This is rural deep conservative part of oregon. The only hospital i can relay first person info on is the one near me. I do not base my thoughts on media. But the media is accuratly relaying what im seeing and hearing from the nurse im buds with... The propaganda that has been flying is nuts. And ive simply reached zero tolerance left.

Again, I'm not saying it's better than or worse than the media says it is either but I will say each person makes up his or own mind and decisions based on a very small percentage of only what they can see.

For example, we know based on numbers and figures that new york state was hit pretty hard in this at one point (as you would expect with the numbers of people in the city not being able to social distance, not masking properly, still going to events, etc) but if I were to base it on my personal experiences at that point and not facts, I would say it was barely there at all, as that was the lowest census my hospital has seen in five years as we reserved beds for covid patients that no one came for. In new york state, not that far from that area. In this place we never had more than 30 covid patients at one time and most of our halls and floors were empty.
Of all the patients we had (hundreds by this point) I believe it was that only 2 died (not that 'only' 2 makes it better, 2 is 2 too many), making even the statistical chance of death seem an anomoly...

I'm not advocating for taking it lightly in the least working where I do and knowing what I do...all I ask is that people try to look at others as humans, who have their own experiences, and beliefs based on those which is not necessarily the same as yours. That doesn't make either right or wrong but can jade their view, and no matter how frustrated we get (trust me, working in a hospital things do get frustrating throughout all this lol) we have to be the better or bigger person and not lose our cool.
