USA Thanksgiving holiday & 9 months of war in the UA
Posted 3 years agoAs of today the full scale war on Ukraine has been going on for 9 months now, since 24 February.
While people in the USA 🇺🇸 give thanks for what they have and celebrate a holiday with turkey dinners,
people in the UA 🇺🇦 'celebrate' 9 months of Russian military 'operations' with electricity blackouts and no heat or running water.
Here is a quick sample of how things are going for some artists who live in Ukraine (several ask for help for things from food & medicine to iPads & generators):
AV_Malina -- A day of total blackout
Carota17 -- News 23.11 (No light)
PistachioHorror -- Blackout & Asking for help [again]
~RIZONIK~ -- ✨ News ✨(no light)
Aldrick -- Bavovnyatko by ~RIZONIK~
Dreyk-Daro -- Important information
Bisamon -- see the note at the top of her profile page, "due to the fact that the russian missiles are hit by the power supply, my lights go off every 2 hours for 2 hours. because of this my work may be delayed. sorry for the wait!"
YunnyLynx -- another 24h without electricity
groodger -- Just had 30 hour long blackout and I need your help
Almatea -- My country is being hurt again. ❤️🩹
Free-Opium -- Sketch slots 27/30 (NSFW)
whisperingstone -- Here we go again... (🇺🇦)
andr0meda -- Massive rocket attacks! Help! Blackout!
LiaNate -- News 23.11 (no water and electricity)
URItsuyo -- 23.11
nesteaisnasty -- – peace to Ukraine (+small update on blackouts)
FelanGrey -- Still alive
Veelzevul1 -- ❗My current state❗
Gocememon -- Electricity problems 😅
the length of that list of people who have made recent posts shows the extent of the problems in Ukraine in the last few days
but there are many others who may not be able to access the internet at all right now due to the blackouts in their country,
so check my previous Journal about Ukrainians who have asked for help recently,
and check out these resources:

PistachioHorror's BIG journal at https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10138995/ is an irregularly updated list of artists/furries from 🇺🇦Ukraine🇺🇦 that need help or support due to the effects of the Russian 'special military operation'.

finally,
ghost738589 hasn't asked for help but probably needs some anyway (just opened commissions, see their most recent post)
One easy thing you can do to help is to "signal boost" for Ukrainian artists. Either for the 'big Journal' or the 'regional focus' Journals (see the list of 6 above or at the top of any of them, like here) or for specific individuals, like any one of the examples above.

Ukrainians who have asked for help recently (2022)
Posted 3 years agoBecause of the large number of missiles fired at Ukraine yesterday (15 Nov) by the Russian military that resulted in about a quarter of the population of the country being without electricity, I decided to make a quick list of a few Ukrainians who have asked for help recently (within the last month). Note that these are only people who have written about their situation and asked for help, many other artists in Ukraine are suffering with similar situations but have not (or cannot) told us about it on FA. If there are others you know of, please leave links in the Comments (and 'boost' them yourself, if you want). <update 25 Nov, there have been more Russian missiles fired at Ukraine's electricity infrastructure over the last two weeks leading to more blackouts and more request for help> <update 10 Dec, I have been updating the list for changes over the last two weeks> <update 17 Dec, I am still updating the list below> <update 24 Dec, I am still updating the list> <update 2 Jan, I am updating this list but not adding any new requests> <update 16 Jan, I made a new Journal of new requests for aid/assistance/help in 2023>

Ukraine - 8 full months of brutal war
Posted 3 years ago8 months of war
Today (October 24th) marks 8 full months of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. Hopefully I will have some time later this week to write a proper update on what has happened over the last month. It was a month that included significant changes to the front lines which had been static for months, with Ukraine regaining control over a significant amount of territory (in the Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts) and Kremlin escalations including a 'partial mobilization' of men in Russia (aka conscription, draft) as well as a Russian military campaign of missile and drone attacks against Ukrainian energy infrastructure that have left many Ukrainian FA members facing intermittent power outages. The following links to Artwork and Journals from October 2022 give some perspective on how widespread the attacks/problems are and how many FA members are affected.Assorted links:

Status update
Posted 3 years agoI am sorry that I have not been very active on FA lately. A few weeks ago I found out that I was going to have to move and I am busy trying to prepare for and organize the move. There has also been some drama with the people who are responsible and I was pretty stressed for a while. Sometimes real life gets in the way. I apologize to anyone who has been waiting on me.
However, my recent problems are all minor compared to people who have *REAL* problems. Like these:
SkrymeR1's mother lives in rural Kharkiv where there is no electricity and winter is coming -- they are collecting money to buy her a generator
Rivay needed to move because rockets were flying over their house and falling in the neighbor's yard, and now their mother needs cancer surgery

7 months of "Special Military Operations"🇷🇺
Posted 3 years agoAs of September 24th, the current Russian government's "special military operation" in Ukraine has been going on for 7 months (or over 8 and a half years) with no end in sight. Apparently the military operation has not been "special" enough so far because Russian president Putin recently announced 'partial' mass mobilization of the Russian population (via conscription/draft rather than volunteering to fight) in order to have enough troops to continue his military operations in Ukraine.
I would like to offer my deepest condolences to anyone who gets a conscription notice to serve in awar special military operation that they do not personally support or that they feel is unethical. Each person must make their own choices in life and sometimes ALL of the possible choices may seem to be bad or have negative personal consequences. I hope that everyone who finds themselves in such a situation will carefully consider all of their options and choose the one that they feel best represents who they are as a person.

Help for Kharkiv 🇺🇦
Posted 3 years agoIs there anyone in the portion of the Ukrainian Kharkiv oblast that has just changed control (from Russian🇷🇺 military to Ukraine🇺🇦) that needs help or needs to flee to a safer region?
In a surprise Ukrainian counteroffensive, large parts of Kharkiv oblast in eastern Ukraine that have been under the control of the Russian military and Putin's government in the Kremlin for almost half a year have apparently very recently returned to the control of the Ukrainian military and the government in Kyiv. While it is far too soon to determine what the new military situation will be in eastern Ukraine and where the new 'front line' will be, it seems that Ukraine may soon control most of Kharkiv oblast west of the Oskil river except for possibly a narrow strip along the internationally recognized border between Ukraine and Russia that may still be occupied by the Russian military. The sudden Russian military retreat from territory that is internationally recognized as being part of Ukraine has been described as disorderly and panicked. It is currently uncertain how far east of the Oskil river may end up under the control of Ukraine when this current counteroffensive is finished (the far eastern portion of the Kharkiv oblast and the rural northern portion of the Luhansk oblast, north of the major population centers like Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Alchevsk, and Luhansk), for instance Ukrainian military’s general staff said that Russian forces had abandoned the town of Svatove in Luhansk region.
This situation is fast moving. Sometimes there are gaps where individual help can be more effective than organized government efforts or the big humanitarian aid organizations.
Are there any FA members who live (or lived) in this region or who have family members in the region who may need help evacuating to safety?

"Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said Saturday that troops would be regrouped from the Balakliya and Izyum areas to Ukraine's tern Donetsk region. Izyum was a major base for Russian forces in the Kharkiv region and earlier this week social media videos showed residents of Balakliya joyfully cheering as Ukrainian troops moved in. Konashenkov said the Russian move is being made “in order to achieve the stated goals of the special military operation to liberate Donbas,’” one of the eastern Ukraine regions that Russia has declared sovereign. The claim of pullback to concentrate on Donetsk is similar to the justification Russia gave for pulling back its forces from the Kyiv region earlier this year when they failed to take the Ukrainian capital."

"The Russian ministry of defence has confirmed the retreat of Russian forces from Izyum and Balakliya. In a statement published by state media outlet RIA Novosti, the ministry claimed a decision had been made to “regroup the Russian troops stationed in the Balakliya and Izyum regions” and “step up efforts in Donetsk” so as to “achieve the stated goals of the special military operation” and “liberate” the Donbass. It also claimed that a number of “distraction and demonstration events” had been staged in order to conceal the “real actions of the troops” and allow the withdrawal.

Russian forces withdraw from the Kharkiv region amid a Ukrainian counteroffensive
While Russia's Ministry of Defense and the Kremlin have not officially acknowledged the counteroffensive, Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov confirmed that Moscow's forces withdrew for the city of Izium — a key regional transportation and supply hub for the Russian military in Ukraine's east. "... to liberate Donbas it was decided to regroup the Russian troops in the area of Balakliya and Izium to scale up efforts in Donetsk direction," Konashenkov said in a video, even as Russian state media reporters on the ground insisted the move was taken to avoid a rout by Ukrainian forces.

MOSCOW, September 10. /TASS/. The Russian troops stationed at Balakleya and Izyum have been regrouped and redeployed to the Donetsk direction in order to step up efforts there, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Saturday.
"In order to achieve the declared goals of the special military operation for the liberation of Donbass, it was decided to regroup the Russian forces stationed near Balakleya and Izyum to boost efforts in the Donetsk direction," Konashenkov said.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, for that purpose, an operation of reorganizing and redeploying the Izyum-Balakleya grouping to the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) has been carried out in the past three days. Simultaneously, distractive and demonstration activates indicating troops’ real actions were taken.
"A powerful fire attack, with the air force, missile and artillery troops engaged, was conducted against the enemy to prevent harm to Russian troops," he added.
On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry released a video showing Russian troops’ redeployment to the Kharkov direction. Footage features a military convoy consisting of BTR-82A armored personnel carriers and D-20 towed gun-howitzers. Besides the Z and V symbols, a new symbol - a circle inscribed in a triangle - painted on military vehicles can be seen in the video.

"Ukrainian forces in southeastern Kharkiv Oblast are likely exploiting Russian force reallocation to the Southern Axis to conduct an opportunistic yet highly effective counteroffensive northwest of Izyum. Ukrainian forces likely used tactical surprise to advance at least 20km into Russian-held territory in eastern Kharkiv Oblast on September 7, recapturing approximately 400 square kilometers of ground."
https://understandingwar.org/backgr.....nt-september-8
"Ukrainian successes on the Kharkiv City-Izyum line are creating fissures within the Russian information space and eroding confidence in Russian command to a degree not seen since a failed Russian river crossing in mid-May. Ukrainian military officials announced that Ukrainian forces advanced 50km deep into Russian defensive positions north of Izyum on September 8, but the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) notably did not issue any statement regarding Ukrainian advances in Kharkiv Oblast."
https://understandingwar.org/backgr.....nt-september-9
"Ukrainian forces have captured an estimated 2,500 square kilometers in Kharkiv Oblast in the Kharkiv area counteroffensive as of September 9. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhnyi stated on September 8 that Ukrainian forces liberated over 1,000 square kilometers between September 1-8 – a day before Ukrainian forces reached the southern approach to Kupyansk and the Oskil River on September 9. Ukrainian forces are likely clearing pockets of disorganized Russian forces caught in the rapid Ukrainian advance to Kupyansk, Izyum, and the Oskil River, given the influx of observed pictures of Russian prisoners of war in the past 48 hours."
https://understandingwar.org/backgr.....t-september-10
"The Ukrainian counteroffensive in Kharkiv Oblast is routing Russian forces and collapsing Russia’s northern Donbas axis. Russian forces are not conducting a controlled withdrawal and are hurriedly fleeing southeastern Kharkiv Oblast to escape encirclement around Izyum. Russian forces have previously weakened the northern Donbas axis by redeploying units from this area to Southern Ukraine, complicating efforts to slow the Ukrainian advance or at minimum deploy a covering force for the retreat."
https://understandingwar.org/backgr.....t-september-11 <-- well worth reading about the Kharkiv counteroffensive
"Ukrainian forces have inflicted a major operational defeat on Russia, recapturing almost all Kharkiv Oblast in a rapid counter-offensive...
The Ukrainian recapture of Izyum ended the prospect that Russia could accomplish its stated objectives in Donetsk Oblast...
The Ukrainian pressure in Kherson combined with the rapid counter-offensive in Kharkiv presents the Russians with a terrible dilemma of time and space...
The current counter-offensive will not end the war...
Ukraine has turned the tide of this war in its favor...
The Russian defeat in the Battle of Kharkiv Oblast will only intensify public criticism of [Russian Defense Minister Sergey] Shoigu and the MoD, which may lead to personnel changes...
Russian forces conducted a wave of precision strikes against Ukrainian energy infrastructure on September 11 causing widespread power outages..."
-- The Russian Ministry of Defense’s September 11 briefing map confirmed that Russian forces are withdrawing from settlements around Kharkiv City, from northern Kharkiv Oblast, and settlements on the western bank of the Oskil River. Geolocated and social media footage confirmed that Ukrainian forces have entered Vovchansk and Velykyi Burluk... and have reached the international border north of Kharkiv City. Geolocated footage also shows that Ukrainian forces took control of Izyum and settlements south and southwest on September 11.

"NEW: #Ukraine has decisively won the Battle of #Kharkiv Oblast, TheStudyofWar can assess, recovering its territory northwest, north, and northeast of the city and ending the Russian ground & artillery threat to Ukraine’s second-largest city." <-- WOW, I think we will see more details and confirmation in the next few days as things stabilize and the 'fog of war' dissipates.

'Routine' artillery attacks?!?
Posted 3 years agoIn the ISW Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, September 7 they mention Russian "routine" artillery attacks/strikes 8 times:
-- "Russian forces also conducted routine artillery strikes along the Izyum-Slovyansk line and on areas north and northeast of Slovyansk."
-- "Russian forces continued routine artillery strikes on settlements around Siversk."
-- "Russian forces continued routine artillery attacks on Bakhmut and surrounding settlements."
-- "Russian troops continued routine artillery strikes along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City frontline."
-- "Russian forces did not conduct any confirmed ground attacks southwest of Donetsk City or in eastern Zaporizhia Oblast on September 7 and continued routine artillery strikes in these areas."
-- "Russian forces continued routine artillery and rocket strikes on Kharkiv City and the surrounding settlements."
-- "Russian forces did not conduct any confirmed ground attacks in western Zaporizhia Oblast on September 7 and continued routine air and artillery strikes along the line of contact in Zaporizhia Oblast."
-- "Russian forces continued routine missile and artillery attacks along the frontlines in Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts on September 7."
IMHO, some things should NOT become "routine" and artillery strikes are one of those things.

🇺🇦6 months of Terror & WAR🇷🇺
Posted 3 years ago🇺🇦Ukraine - 6 months of Terror and WAR🇷🇺
While this may have all started on 20 February 2014, or in 1918, the 1920's, 1930's or 1940's, or the 1700's or earlier, or whatever you prefer to believe, it has now certainly been SIX MONTHS (182 days) since 24 February 2022, when FurAffinity suddenly got a hail/hurricane/whirlwind (🇷🇺Град/Ураган/Смерч) of new Journals (and more than a few artworks) saying "OMG we're being bombed", and the 6-month-old so-called 🇷🇺"Special Military Operation" (🇺🇦aka: conquest, invasion, war, war of aggression, attempted destruction of an independent sovereign Ukrainian state) is still going on and I am still writing one of these "War Journals" on the 24th of every month.
As I have done for the last few months, here are some links to help highlight the victims of this SIX month (or eight and a half year, if you prefer) brutal war of aggression and terror and what you can do to help them.
Some of things you can do are free and VERY easy, like just Watching someone or giving them a nice Comment or a "signal boost"!

One easy thing you can do to help is to "signal boost" for Ukrainian artists. Either for the 'big Journal' or the 'regional focus' Journals (see the list of 6 above or at the top of any of them, like here) or for specific individuals, like this effort.

6 Months of War in Ukraine - Economics, Endurance & the Energy War -- nice YouTube presentation by analyst Perun
In this video explainer, "Guardian correspondent Luke Harding chronicles the key historical events that led to the invasion of Ukraine, from the Euromaidan protests to the annexation of Crimea, and explains why Vladimir Putin’s belief that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people” is rooted in history from a thousand years ago." <-- a nice little summary of the western viewpoint of Putin's war on Ukraine
War status:
By 24 August 2022, the most significant change in the last month seems to be that both Crimea and the largest nuclear power plant in Europe have become less 'safe' and the bridges over the Dniper river near Kherson have been damaged enough to be unusable by military convoys and heavy armored fighting vehicles. The front line still extends ~2,450 kilometers (1,522 miles) from the city of Kharkiv in the northeast to the city of Mykolaiv in the south and has been changing only very slowly, with Russia losing a bit of ground at the southern end of the line (near Mykolaiv/Kherson) and gaining a bit in the middle near Siversk, Bakhmut and the outskits of Donetsk city. Here is a list of villages, towns and cities near the 'front line' fighting (which has not changed much in a month): Kharkiv (Udy, Ruski Tyshki, and Ternova are a few village/town names); Vovchans'k [Russian-held town 60km NE of Kharkiv, on the E bank of the Siverskyi-Donets River and on a major Russian controlled transportation/logistics route]; Izyum [Russian held, the forward headquarters of its operations to conquer Donbas]; Barvinkove, Slovyansk, Siversk, and Bakhmut [all still held by the UA]; Horlivka [DPR controlled since 2014]; Toretsk & New York [UA controlled towns just a couple kilometers from Horlivka]; Donetsk [DPR controlled since 2014]; Huliaipole [UA]; Polohy [Russian-controlled]; Zaporizhzhia [UA, safe(ish)]; Nikopol' [UA, has been getting hit by shells/rockets for the last month]; Kyrvyi Rih [UA, safe(ish)], Mykolaiv [UA, has been hit with Russian missiles every day for weeks during July & August with many recent attacks reportedly using S-300 anti-air missiles], Odesa [UA, not under direct attack while Mykolaiv stands strong, but still gets regularly hit by Russian missiles including cold-war era anti-ship missiles because the Russian military is apparently running out of precision land-attack cruise missiles -- maybe in another 2 months they will be firing spit-wads at it]. The entire Crimea peninsula (which Russia took from Ukraine by force in 2014 and annexed) now seems to be more involved in the active war, with events there beginning in earnest on 9 August with an accident/event/strike on the Saki air base where 7-12 jets attached to Russia's Black Sea Fleet were damaged/destroyed.
The assessment/opinion of the ISW (a US-based think tank often quoted by western media) for months now is that the Russian offensive is almost out of steam/gas/energy/momentum*:
*(pick your word, the military technical term is 'culminate')
28 May: "When the Battle of Severodonetsk ends, regardless of which side holds the city, the Russian offensive at the operational and strategic levels will likely have culminated, giving Ukraine the chance to restart its operational-level counteroffensives to push Russian forces back." - from the May 28 ISW report
20 July: "The current Russian offensive may secure limited additional territorial gains in Donbas northeast of the E40 highway but will likely culminate before seizing major populated areas such as Slovyansk or Bakhmut." - from the July 20 ISW report
Followup comments:
21 July: "The lack of successful ground attacks beyond the Slovyansk, Siversk, and Bakhmut areas is consistent with ISW’s assessment that the Russian offensive is likely to culminate without capturing Slovyansk or Bakhmut." - from July 21 ISW report
21 August: "Russian forces’ momentum from territorial gains around Bakhmut and Avdiivka in late July is likely exhausted, and Russian attacks in eastern Ukraine are likely culminating although very small Russian advances will likely continue." from August 21 ISW report --alternate quote from that report: "Russian offensive operations in eastern Ukraine have likely exhausted the limited momentum they gained at the end of July and are likely culminating." --another interesting quote: "Russian forces are likely not training new recruits in discipline, creating an entitled force engaging in disorderly conduct in Russia and illegal conduct in Ukraine."
"The latest intelligence update from the U.K. defense ministry said that on Aug. 24, 2022, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation that Russia was deliberately slowing the pace of its military campaign in Ukraine, driven by the need to reduce civilian casualties. This is almost certainly deliberate misinformation, the update said. Russia’s offensive has stalled because of poor Russian military performance and fierce Ukrainian resistance, the update said. Under Shoigu’s orders, the forces operating in Ukraine have repeatedly missed planned operational timelines, the update said." -- from VoA here and the UK MoD twitter account here
The grinding Russian offensive in the Donbass seems to have nearly stalled/culminated with Russia transferring troops to the South (Kherson region) to attempt to prevent a Ukrainian counteroffensive from retaking the west (right) bank of the Dnipro and the Russian/DPR/LPR/mercenary forces remaining in the Donbass eking out tiny gains at a high cost in lives, injuries and equipment. At this point it is uncertain when the tempo of the war will wind down with Russia possibly considering making some more "gestures of goodwill" (like ending their northern offensive on Kyiv in early April or evacuating their troops from Snake Island on June 30), perhaps withdrawing from the territory west of the Dnipro river or even Kherson or withdrawing military equipment and troops from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and the chances of a Russian soldier eventually returning home alive and healthy will thus be improving. Or perhaps Russia will start mass conscription to generate fresh combat power with the intent to crush all Ukrainian resistance east of the Dnipro. Only time will tell, I certainly have no special insight into when/how/if this

Ukraine - 5 months of brutal war (info)
Posted 3 years ago🇺🇦Ukraine - 5 months of brutal war🇷🇺
It has been five months since 24 February 2022, when FurAffinity suddenly got an avalanche of new Journals (and more than a few artworks) saying "OMG we're being bombed", and the 5-month-old so-called "Special Military Operation" (aka: scenic tour in armored vehicles searching for millions of mysteriously missing artillery shells, invasion, war, war of aggression, attempted destruction of an independent sovereign Ukrainian state) is still going on and I am still writing one of these "War Journals" on the 24th of every month. I will try to do something special next month on 24 August 2022 for the 6 month anniversary of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

War status:
By 24 July 2022, the most significant change in the last month is the fall/liberation of the twin cities of Severodonetsk & Lysychansk. The front line still extends ~2,450 kilometers (1,522 miles) from the city of Kharkiv in the northeast to the city of Mykolaiv in the south and has been changing only very slowly, with Russia losing a bit of ground at the ends of the line (near Kharkiv and near Mykolaiv/Kherson) and gaining a bit in the middle near Severodonetsk & Lysychansk. Here is a list of villages, towns and cities near the 'front line' fighting (which has not changed much in a month): Kharkiv (Udy, Ruski Tyshki, and Ternova are a few village/town names); Vovchans'k (town on the Russian border, 60km NE of Kharkiv, on the E bank of the Siverskyi-Donets River, 2021 est. population 17,747) [Russian controlled transportation/logistics route]; Izyum [Russian held, the forward headquarters of its operations to conquer Donbas]; Severodonetsk/Lysychansk [Severodonetsk is Russian/LPR held since 26 June, while its foxy sister city Lysychansk was captured by Russian forces on 2 July]; Popasna (a town <formerly> of ~20,000 people) [destroyed & the ruins taken by Russia ~8 May] --> these 3 names have been replaced by places like Barvinkove, Slovyansk, Siversk, and Bakhmut; Horlivka [DPR controlled since 2014]; Toretsk & New York [UA controlled towns just a couple kilometers from Horlivka]; Donetsk [DPR controlled since 2014]; Huliaipole [UA]; Polohy [Russian-controlled]; Zaporizhzhia [UA, safe(ish)]; Nikopol' [UA, fighting nearby but safe(ish)]; Kyrvyi Rih [UA, safe(ish)], Mykolaiv [UA, has been hit with Russian missiles every day for weeks during July, with recent attacks reportedly using S-300 anti-air missiles], Odessa [UA, not under direct attack while Mykolaiv stands, but still gets regularly hit by cruise missiles and now anti-ship missiles because the Russian military is apparently running out of precision land-attack cruise missiles -- maybe in another 3 months they will be firing spit-wads at it]. Ukraine intelligence estimates Russian has expended 55-60% of its pre-war stock of high precision munitions [sources CNN or ISW who are both repeating Ukrainian intel reports]. On 30 June 2022, Russia announced that it had withdrawn troops from Snake Island in a "gesture of goodwill" after military objectives were complete.
The assessment/opinion of the ISW (a US-based think tank often quoted by western media) is that the Russian offensive is almost out of steam/gas/energy/momentum*:
*(pick your word, the military technical term is 'culminate')
28 May: "When the Battle of Severodonetsk ends, regardless of which side holds the city, the Russian offensive at the operational and strategic levels will likely have culminated, giving Ukraine the chance to restart its operational-level counteroffensives to push Russian forces back." - from the May 28 ISW report
...
20 July: "The current Russian offensive may secure limited additional territorial gains in Donbas northeast of the E40 highway but will likely culminate before seizing major populated areas such as Slovyansk or Bakhmut." - from the July 20 ISW report
Followup comments:

Perhaps by next month the grinding Russian offensive will have finally stalled/culminated and the tempo of the war will be winding down with Russia considering making some more "gestures of goodwill" (like ending their northern offensive on Kyiv in early April or evacuating their troops from Snake Island on June 30), perhaps withdrawing from the territory west of the Dnipro river or even Kherson, and the chances of a Russian soldier eventually returning home alive and healthy will thus be improving. All photos of destroyed apartment buildings, kindergartens, schools, universities, hospitals, churches, monasteries, resorts, restaurants, theaters, railway stations, crowded shopping malls and homeless pet adoption facilities are staged or were done by enemy Not-Zë artillery or rockets but they sometimes miss their civilian targets and hit other enemy army units, adding 30% to our own units' effectiveness. None of our own soldiers have ever committed a war crime, in fact Zë don't even know what "war crimes" means. Any territory Zë do not control is a gesture of our goodwill. Sanctions are having no effect. Zë expect total victory any year now. Mandatory military service age to be reduced to fifteen. Excellent signing bonus for new military contacts for men over age 50 -- no military experience or criminal background check needed. Big bonuses for T-55 or Yak-9 experience. Wealth to the oligarchs and glory to the eternal Pütïn regime! Will you release my daughter now?"
as reported nowhere, certainly not on RT in late 2023 or the Onion (ok, maybe this is just humor and sarcasm, my profile page does warn about caustic sarcasm)
If you want to create an artwork to illustrate either "news article" above, please make a suggestion/proposal; I have budgeted some money for this purpose. If you want to write a humorous "news article" like the one above and post it on your own FA account (a Journal or an appropriate artwork), I will consider including a link to it here (no matter which side it pokes fun at, but it does need to be actually silly rather than real propaganda, ideally by exaggerating all sides' narratives or propaganda to ludicrous levels).

Kyiv region Ukraine 🇺🇦 artists and stories on FA
Posted 3 years agoKyiv region Ukraine artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity
Links to the six 'regional focus' Journals:
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10264842/ -- Kyiv region Ukraine artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity <-- this Journal <you are here>
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10246683/ -- NE & East-Center Ukraine artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10225029/ -- Kharkiv/Kharkov region artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10203165/ -- Donbas/Donbass region artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity <-- area of greatest need
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10230885/ -- Southern Ukraine region artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity <-- also an area of great need
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10255501/ -- Central & Western Ukraine artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity
the order is simply geographic in a clockwise circle from north to east to south to west, it is not based on need (Donbas and Southern Ukraine are the areas of greatest need)
This Journal is a work in progress and will be updated over the next few weeks (and months). Please post a Comment below (or contact ugh_del) if you want to be added or want your listing/text changed -- for other regions you can send me a Note but for the Kyiv region this is the ONLY way for anyone else to get added to this list (for this week), I am sorry but there are just far TOO many people in this region for me to exchange Notes with everyone and I am already struggling to support all the other Journals. If your account was created in 2022 or has less than 50 Watchers, be prepared to 'prove' you are a real Ukrainian by contacting someone on this list who has more than 99 Watchers and convincing them that you are Ukrainian and getting them to post a Comment (in reply to your Comment asking to join) that supports you. If you are already listed in this Journal and you want your line/listing/text changed, please post a Comment or send me a Note. I would be very happy if someone from the city wanted to make their own Journal (I could link to it) or take over the task of editing this list and keeping it current, or perhaps just communicating with everyone and summarizing the changes that need to be made once per week.
The previous five 'regional focus' Journals covered the rest of the country of Ukraine except for the capital city of Kyiv (Ки́їв) and the Kyiv oblast west of the Dnipro river. This Journal focuses on that last remaining region... which seems to have about a quarter to a third of all FA members in the country. This region includes the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and the now infamous cities of Bucha and Irpin whose names have become synonymous with accusations of Russian war crimes during the Russian military's push to reach Kyiv (from Belarus) in the first six weeks of the 2022 invasion* of Ukraine.
*or "special military operation" if you like that phrase or are legally required to use it (on threat of up to 15 years in a Russian prison and/or being quietly poisoned)
These 'regional focus' Journals seem to be most effective when they have about 30 people, but this one could easily have over 40 or 50 (we will deal with that if necessary, so do not worry about asking to be on the list). Unlike the big Journal of Ukrainian artists who need assistance/help at https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10138995/ these 'regional focus' Journals are for everyone who is/was from that region/area of Ukraine (including people who are in good financial condition and non-artists). They can help people from the same general area find each other and connect, and unlike some of the chats they are public so the local lurkers and international people can know who is from a general area. This list may include some people who are not from the Kyiv area but do not want their general location in Ukraine to be known.
ALERTS & REQUESTS:
UArt is a new (as of 6 Sept) collaborative 'art store' account to help showcase artists from Ukraine
LiaNate has asked for commissions or donations (in November), see here [15 Nov]
Murlich needs some help and has a new mild NSFW YCH
GREATEST NEEDS:
Most of the 'greatest needs' are people who are either still in or refugees from Kharkiv, Donbas, and Southern Ukraine, so see those links.

Quotes from some people on FurAffinity who are in/from the Kyiv region of Ukraine
Here are some assorted separate quotes I have read (since I started working on this Journal) that were written by people currently in or from the Kyiv region of Ukraine. I tried to focus on peoples' individual personal experiences and their expressed opinions. I am also trying to reflect the overall 'spirit' of the area/region. The people and their viewpoints vary and although the order is not random they should not be read as if they come from one person who was trying to tell a consistent story. Any appearance of a consistent story from their order was created by me and the order I chose for these separate quotes from different people from different towns/cities the area:
<<yes, this is what these Journals look like before I have put a lot of effort into contacting people and reading all their Journals or social media>>
<<this section is still in work, but it has a few quotes already>>
> "Thank you for contacting me!"
> "I appreciate your work and the idea in general."
> "I wouldn't mind if you put me on your list. So that people would read a small but story about what happened to us during the hostilities."
> "people would at least know that terrible things really happened here in which not only we humans, but also animals suffered."
> "what is happening will go in history for a long time. Right now all world is standing with us" from here
> "It would be probably more appropriate to write "Kyiv" <instead of Kiev> cause the russian spelling can be triggering for some people."
> "The war divided my family into 2 camps. I feel very bad and emotionally unstable because of the position of my <relatives> in this war."
> ""
> ""
People can claim their individual quotes if they want to, but do not need to admit/claim the quotes as theirs. If someone wants me to remove their quote or to move it somewhere else in the list of quotes, please send me a Note. I tried to "tell the story" that I thought I was reading from people in the region but the "story" I wrote is not the only story that can be told and I am sure some people will not agree with parts of it. If anyone else wants to put the quotes in a different order to "tell a different story" I will probably be amused to see it, however if you want to tell your own personal story it is probably better to do that in your own Journals or in the text under one of your own artworks and just include a link to that here.

Ukraine - 4 months of war (info)
Posted 3 years agoIt has been four months since 24 Feb 2022, when FA suddenly got a flood of new Journals and artwork saying "OMG we're being bombed", and the 4-month-old so-called "Special Military Operation" (aka invasion, war, war of aggression, scenic tour with field mobile artillery) is still going on. Here are some links to help highlight the people who have been affected and what you can do to help them. Some of these are free and VERY easy, like just Watching someone or giving them a nice Comment!

By 24 June 2022, the front line extends ~2,450 kilometers (1,522 miles) from the city of Kharkiv in the northeast to the city of Mykolaiv in the south and has been changing only very slowly, with Russia losing a bit of ground at the ends of the line (near Kharkiv and near Mykolaiv/Kherson). Here is a list of villages, towns and cities near the 'front line' fighting (which has not changed much in a month): Kharkiv; Vovchans'k (town on the Russian border, 60km NE of Kharkiv, on the E bank of the Siverskyi-Donets River, 2021 est. population 17,747) [Russian controlled transportation/logistics route]; Izyum [Russian held, the forward headquarters of its operations to conquer Donbas]; Rubizhne (suburb NW of Severodonetsk, 2021 est. population 56,066) [taken by Russia/LPR/PPR ~12 May]; Severodonetsk/Lysychansk [Severodonetsk is mostly Russian held with the UA army starting to withdraw about 24 June, while its foxy sister city Lysychansk is under attack]; Popasna (a town <formerly> of ~20,000 people) [destroyed & the ruins taken by Russia ~8 May]; Horlivka [DPR controlled since 2014]; Toretsk&New York [UA controlled towns just a couple kilometers from Horlivka]; Donetsk [DPR controlled since 2014; FA members there report shelling/rockets this week]; Huliaipole [UA]; Polohy [Russian-controlled]; Zaporizhzhia [UA, safe(ish)]; Nikopol' [UA, fighting nearby but safe(ish)]; Kyrvyi Rih [UA, safe(ish)], Mykolaiv [UA, had been calmer but there were several missile attacks recently], Odessa [UA, not under direct attack while Mykolaiv stands, but still gets regularly hit by ballistic & cruise missiles, although reports are that recent attacks have been with anti-ship missiles because the Russian military is running out of land-attack cruise missiles -- maybe in another 4 months they will be firing spit-wads at it].

*estimated publication date for a separate Western Ukraine Journal ~31 June <sic> or when this Central & Western Journal has more than 35 people
the order is simply geographic in a clockwise circle from north to east to south to west, it is not based on need (Donbas and Southern Ukraine are the areas of greatest need)
This Journal is still a work in progress (as of 18 July) and will continue to be updated slowly. It may even be modified to cover a different group of oblasts, depending on the comments/opinions/feedback I get -- for now it will include all of the Western oblasts. If you are not listed in the Journal but would like to be, please put a Comment below or send me a Note (if your account was created in 2022 or has less than 30 Watchers, be prepared to 'prove' you are a real Ukrainian by contacting someone on the list who has more than 49 Watchers and convincing them that you are a Ukrainian and getting them to post a Comment that supports you or requests for you to be added). If you are listed in the Journal and you want your line/listing/text changed, please post a Comment or send me a Note.
The previous four 'regional focus' Journals for NE & East-Center Ukraine, Kharkiv, Donbas, and Southern Ukraine focused on the areas where most of the active fighting was by June 2022 and the 'second line' behind the active fighting. This Journal focuses on one of the safer regions of the country, the Central region (Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr oblasts) and the safest region, the West (Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Ternopil, Lviv, Volyn, Rivne oblasts), although these areas still suffer from air-raid sirens and ballistic/cruise missile attacks, anxiety about Belarus or Transnistria, and worries about loved ones in more dangerous regions or in the UA🇺🇦 military, as well as an influx of refugees, unemployment, rising food prices, scarcity of gasoline, and other effects from the war* being fought with the Russian🇷🇺 military and the associated Russian psychological operations.
*or "special military operation" if you like that phrase or are legally required to use it (on threat of up to a 15 year 'vacation' in Siberia)
These 'regional focus' Journals seem to be most effective when they have about 30 people. Unlike the big Journal of Ukrainian artists who need assistance/help at https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10138995/ these 'regional focus' Journals are for everyone who is/was from that region/area of Ukraine (including people who are in good financial condition and non-artists). Also, anyone from a 'safer' part of Ukraine can ask to be added to this Journal, without specifically revealing exactly where in the country they are.
Note that this regional Journal has fewer people listed than some of the other regions, despite covering more oblasts and a much greater area. I am aware of FA members who are in this region but are not listed and prefer not to be listed. Others and I have speculated that this is partially because Ukrainians living in these regions feel somewhat less imminently threatened and thus tend to value anonymity somewhat more. However everyone from the region covered is welcome to be listed here, even if they don't need aid/assistance/help or are not artists (see "Other/Undisclosed" towards the bottom).
ALERTS & REQUESTS:
I could use some assistance in maintaining this Journal, if you are from this area/region and want to help then please leave a Comment or send me a Note.

Fateview just opened for commissions, see https://www.furaffinity.net/view/47974072/ [added 7 July]
I could use some Ukrainian volunteers for a future "signal boost" effort (please send me Note if you are interested in helping) [updated 17 Dec]
GREATEST NEEDS:
Most of the 'greatest needs' are people who are either still in or refugees from Donbas, Southern Ukraine, and Kharkiv so see those links. The biggest problems for people from this region seem to be the economic impact of the war (no jobs, high prices for gas and food, etc.) and the terror caused by Russian cruise missiles.

Three people were killed and 19 injured." -- source (The term 'safer' is relative to eastern and southern Ukraine and even the central regions of Ukraine are not 'safe' from Russian missile attacks. The Kremlin is now apparently "throwing the kitchen sink" and Kh-22 "Kitchen" cold-war era anti-ship missiles at Kirovohrad too, apparently the Russian military thinks it is a 'ship' like a shopping mall in Kremenchuk; preliminary reports indicate the anti-ship missiles failed to sink the city)

Western Ukraine
Until this Journal has more than 30 people it will include both Central and Western Ukraine. The Western region of Ukraine is reasonably 'safe' (as far as anywhere in Ukraine is safe from Russian long-range missiles) but not nearly as safe as living in a country where there is not an active war* going on. This region will not list the different oblasts separately and if anyone from another region of Ukraine does not want to list where they are from or where they live then they can also be included here.
-- Western region (Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Ternopil, Lviv, Volyn, Rivne oblasts) --

Other/Undisclosed
Undisclosed location in Central or Western Ukraine, or any other 'safe' or semi-safe region in Ukraine:
[may also be from/in one of the neighboring oblasts (or possibly even Kyiv), or any area of Ukraine if they really don't want to give their exact location for whatever reason]
This is also where icons/people may go until I have contacted them to find out exactly how/where/if they want to be listed (for instance if they've publicly stated that they are 'safe in western Ukraine') and where people from Kyiv who really want to be on these lists can be included until there is a specific Kyiv list. some of these people may be moved to a separate Journal for Western Ukraine when it is ready (~31 June <sic>) or when this Journal has more than ~35 people

"While Belarus and Russia retain close military cooperation and the ongoing Belarusian exercises are likely intended in part to threaten Ukraine, Belarus remains unlikely to enter the war in Ukraine on behalf of Russia. As ISW has previously assessed, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko likely cannot afford the domestic consequences of involving his limited military assets in a costly foreign war.[5] Unsupported Belarusian forces are additionally highly unlikely to be effective, and Russia lacks the reserves necessary to conduct another offensive toward Kyiv. These exercises are undoubtedly intended to posture and threaten Ukrainian border areas but are unlikely to preempt actual involvement in hostilities." on 23 June 2022, from https://understandingwar.org/backgr.....ssment-june-23

Quotes from some people on FurAffinity who are in/from central Ukraine
Here are some assorted separate quotes I have read (since I started working on this Journal) that were written by people currently in or from northeast and east-central Ukraine.
<<this section is still in work, but it has some quotes already>>
> "I've been living in Ukraine since birth, it's my home country, I grew up here."
> "The war came on February 24. On the morning of that day, a bomb landed in the city where I am now. It was scary, but it wasn't too loud, so it wasn't too emotional."
> "Then the war started, and I was quiet, but scared. Every day there were sirens"
> "I am very embarrassed to ask to be added to the list....but" [that is why these lists are for everybody from the region]
> "I am in a difficult financial situation (there is no job in my city and I sometimes do not have enough to pay for utilities not to mention the food"
> "sometimes bombs come here too"
> "I know a little about the situation in Volyn (western Ukraine)."
> "That's a very big mental stress for everyone in the Western Ukraine actually"
> "You may have heard that we have different dialects in different areas, but we still understand each other perfectly (except Zakarpattia..."
> "my boyfriend's mother is a praying Putin. She loves him, and really believes he is liberating, living in Ukraine at this time. And she thinks it's the Ukrainians who are bombing. Propaganda works here too"
---
> "Thank you! It's all OK."
> "wow thank you for doing such journals."
> "Thanks a lot for your work, I can see and appreciate how much effort was put into all that!"
> "I think this journal is great!! <3"
> "I wonder what inspired you to do this anyway."
> "Thank you for everything that you do!"
NE & East-Center Ukraine artists and stories on FA

If you are listed in this Journal and you want your line/listing/text changed, please post a Comment or send me a Note. If you are not listed in this Journal but would like to be, please post a Comment below requesting to be added (if your account was created in 2022 or has less than 30 Watchers, be prepared to 'prove' you are a real Ukrainian by contacting someone on the list who has more than 49 Watchers and convincing them that you are a Ukrainian from this region and getting them to post a Reply to your Comment that supports you or requests for you to be added).
The previous three 'regional focus' Journals for Kharkiv, Donbas, and Southern Ukraine focused on the heavily Russophone East and South of Ukraine (see map 1 or 2 from this Wikipedia article regarding the Russian language in Ukraine) because they were where most of the active fighting was by May/June 2022. The predominately Ukrainian-speaking West and Central regions of Ukraine have been comparatively safe from ground attacks during the war* with Russia (so far), although they suffer from ballistic/cruise missile attacks as well as an influx of refugees, unemployment, rising food prices, scarcity of gasoline and other effects from the war* being fought on the ground in the Donbas, Eastern and Southern Ukraine. This Journal will focus on the East-Center region where the Russian and Ukrainian languages have roughly equal prevalence, excluding most of Kyiv, which has many more than 30 FA members and deserves its own Journal (the Chernihiv, Sumy, eastern Kyiv, Poltava, Cherkasy and eastern Dnipropetrovsk oblasts). Other than the big cities of the NE region (Chernihiv and Sumy) that are near Belarus and Russia that were heavily damaged in February/March and some villages that were overrun by the Russian military on its drive towards Kyiv in February and March of 2022, much of this area does not have active fighting as of May/June 2022 but is threatened or 'just behind' the regions where active fighting is taking place.
*or "special military operation" if you prefer that phrase or are legally required to use it (on threat of up to 15 years in a gulag)
These 'regional focus' Journals seem to be most effective when they have about 30 people. Since I haven't been able to find that many FA members from just Northeast (NE) Ukraine and trying to cover Kyiv here would add too many (over 50), I am expanding this Journal to cover the entire East-Center region (essentially the remaining area east of the Dnipro river that was not covered in one of the first three Journals). This division is somewhat arbitrary but it is trying to make a group of the areas that would be in serious danger if the fighting expanded, or might be in danger if this happens again in 2, 5, or 10 years. Unlike the big Journal of Ukrainian artists who need assistance/help at https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10138995/ these 'regional focus' Journals are for everyone who is/was from that region/area of Ukraine (including people who are in good financial condition and non-artists). This Journal is a work in progress and will be updated over the next few days and weeks. Please post a Comment or send me a Note if you want to be added or want your listing/text changed.
ALERTS & REQUESTS: (updated 21 July, 2023)
There does not seem to be a popular 🇺🇦 FA member (with 999+ Watchers) up in Chernihiv or Sumy to try to help out the newer members (in those damaged cities) -- maybe some FA member in Kyiv or even Lviv will volunteer to do it. [added 19 June... still waiting 19 July]

Northeast Ukraine
This region includes the border between Ukraine and Belarus/Russia that is east of the Dnipro river and north of Kharkiv oblast and the Donbass (Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts). The major cities of Chernihiv and Sumy suffered heavy damage in the first couple months of the Russian invasion, while the fate of the towns and villages varied a lot - with some being occupied and others being bypassed or left alone. The Russian army withdrew from this region in early April 2022 and by May/June the only internationally reported attacks in the area is regular cross-border shelling from Russia into the Sumy region.
-- NE region (Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts, & Kyiv oblast east of the Dnipro) --
Chernihiv/Chernihivshchyna oblast:
[Total population is just less than 1 million and it has the lowest population density in the country. On 5 April 2022 Governor of Chernihiv Oblast Vyacheslav Chaus stated that the Russian military has left Chernihiv Oblast]
Chernihiv/Chernigov/Черні́гів/Черни́гов city (heavily damaged in March, 2022):

Sumy/Sumska/Sumshchyna/Сумська́ oblast:
[Total population is just more than 1 million. On 8 April 2022 Governor of Sumy Oblast Dmytro Zhyvytskyi stated that all Russians troops had left Sumy Oblast.]
Sumy/Суми city (UA controlled, heavily damaged in March, 2022; still has occasional cross-border shelling from Russia in June):

Central Eastern Ukraine
This region includes the portion of Ukraine east of the Dnipro river but not bordering Russia, the Black Sea, or occupied territories. It is 'comparatively' safe by May/June 2022 except for ballastic and cruise missile attacks, which can happen anywhere in Ukraine (but seem to be particularly frequent in Odesa and Dnipro). It includes some areas that are west of the Dnipro river just to keep an oblast (political sub-division) that spans the river together in one place.
-- Central NE region (Poltava and Cherkasy Oblasts) --
Poltava oblast:
[Total population is under 1.4 million. The entire Poltava oblast is east of the Dnipro river but is comparatively 'safe' since it does not directly border Russia or the Donbas. It has not suffered direct ground attacks during the 2022 invasion.]
Poltava city:
-- FA members (3) --

Kremenchuk city (and nearby):
https://www.furaffinity.net/search/?q=Kremenchuk -- no search results in early June but by 27 June there were several artworks about a Russian missile strike on a shopping mall
-- FA members (2) --

¹written here on Feb 25, 2022; however things have changed after a Russian missile strike on a shopping mall on Jun 27.

Cherkasy oblast:
[Total population is under 1.2 million. It has not suffered direct ground attacks during the 2022 invasion. Only a small part of the oblast is east of the Dnipro river, but this list will include anyone in the part of Cherkasy oblast that is west of the Dnipro river & Cherkasy city, just because this list is fairly small.]
Cherkassy city:
[Cherkassy is on the comparatively safe west bank of the Dnipro river between Kyiv and Kremenchuk]
Uman' city: [no known FA members]
[Uman' is about halfway between Kropyvnytskyi (Kirovohrad Oblast) and Vinnytsia (Vinnytsia Oblast) ]

-- FA members (1) --

-- Central SE region (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast east of the Dnipro river) --
Dnipropetrovsk oblast: (only the eastern portion & Dnipro city for now) [no known FA members]
[Total population was ~3.14 million (2021 est.) before the war.]
Pravlohrad city: (the major city in part of Dnipropetrovsk oblast that is east of the Dnipro) [no known FA members]
Dnipro city:

I tried to focus on peoples' individual personal experiences and their expressed opinions. I am also trying to reflect the overall 'spirit' of the area/region. The people and their viewpoints vary and although the order is not random they should not be read as if they come from one person who was trying to tell a consistent story. Any appearance of a consistent story from their order was created by me and the order I chose for these separate quotes from different people from different towns/cities the area:
> "I'm from Ukraine and my native language is russian (i know it doesn't make sense)"
> "I saw your regional focus Journals before"
> "yes, sure, I'd like to be in the list!"
> "Yes, I can be included in the list, do I need to write something? unfortunately I don't know anyone on the site"
> "unfortunately I don't know any artists from my or Sumy region on FA."
> "I think we should not include us <in a city on the Dnipro river> yet, while everything is calm,"
> "Kinda dead because there is to much work I need to do, but I'm ok!"
> "From my experience only one russian person helped me at the beginning of the war"
> "Everybody gets tired of the news, but the problems do not disappear"
> "Okay, I've uploaded some photos."
> "I could help people, especially those who decided to go to Germany."
> "I sent messages to the new people - hopefully they will join our group) Also thank you - i created the group and there is already 7 members!"
---
> "I'm really appreciate your work!"
> "I am very grateful to you for what you are doing!"
> "And thank you so much for helping ukrainian, it means a lot for us"
> "Дякую тобі за цю важку працю! І дякую за побажання"
P.S. Together the four 'regional focus' Journals I have completed so far cover 12 out of a total of 24 of Ukraine's oblasts (administrative regions). I may eventually try to make Journal(s) to highlight the other oblasts/regions that have been heavily affected by the war, including the city of Kyiv and its suburbs, all of which saw fighting or significant missile attacks in the first two months of the invasion. Kyiv definitely deserves its own list but I am hoping someone from the city will eventually undertake that effort. Ideally people from other regions would do something like this Journal for their own region. If you would like to help (or work on any of those) please send me a Note and it will be finished much sooner.
Dogava (has been helped) [week of 6/6/2022]
Posted 3 years agoUPDATE (11 June 2022): Thanks to multiple donors (small, big and in between), Dogava now has the money she needs to escape. THANK YOU!!!
UPDATE (7 July 2022): Dogava has escaped from Energodar, see her NSFW thank you artwork here or her story here.
Dogava is a Ukrainian🇺🇦 artist who is URGENTLY trying to raise enough money to be able afford to flee from a dangerous situation in Russian🇷🇺 occupied territory and travel to a city that is safe -- possibly in 🇷🇺 or possibly in a place controlled by the (internationally recognized elected government of the sovereign nation of Ukraine)/(UA government in Kyiv)/('stubborn neo-Nazi nationalist regime') {people who actually want to help people fleeing a bad situation shouldn't care which of those it is... but she told me it is ok to share that her goal is to get to Vinnitsa/Vinnytsia, a city of ~370,000 people in west-central Ukraine}. She has been listed on the big Journal of Ukrainian artists who need help at https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10138995/ for a long time and I remember early in the (invasion)/(war)/('special military operation') when she posted a photo from her phone of an anti-war slogan written in the dust on a car window, probably taken about the time her city had just been (overrun)/(captured)/('liberated from Nazis') and that was all she could do. Please take a look at her FA Profile and available YCH's or send her a few (bucks)/(dollars)/('accusations of ingratitude to the generous Putin regime') on her Buymeacoffee [only 3 supporters as of 6/6/2022] if you can afford at least ($5)/(150 hryvnia)/(300 rubles and 15 years in a gulag) or you can send her a message/Note to ask for her Ukrainian PayPal address.
Dogava sent me a FA Note in Russian because the internet connection in her (town)/(City of regional significance)/('future Peoples Republik that will freely vote to be annexed -- or else') was too bad for her to get a translation to English. I ran it though Google Translate and the brief summary is, "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope." Update 8 June: her message is "Мирного неба всем нам! Благодарю за поддержку♡" (Peaceful skies to all of us! Thank you for your support♡). Update 9 June: "Hi. thank you very much for all this. if possible, tell the others about my paypal. From now on, my boyfriend will speak for me, because now only through him I can contact the outside world through mobile communications. Thank you again for your support♡" {Her Ukrainian PayPal address is <update after escape: see her own Journal here[at]gmail.com> which I checked and it works}

Dogava прислала мне записку FA на русском языке, потому что интернет-соединение в ее (городе)/(городе областного значения)/('будущей Народной Республике, которая свободно проголосует за аннексию -- или еще что-то') было слишком плохим для нее, чтобы получить перевод на англ. Я запустил его через Google Translate, и краткое изложение было таким: «Помоги мне, Оби-Ван Кеноби. Ты моя единственная надежда». Обновление от 8 июня: ее сообщение "Мирного неба всем нам! Благодарю за поддержку♡" (Мирного неба всем нам! Спасибо за вашу поддержку♡). Обновление 9 июня: "Привет. Большое спасибо за все это. Если возможно, расскажите другим о моем пейпале. Отныне за меня будет говорить мой парень, потому что теперь только через него я могу связаться с внешним миром через мобильную связь. . Еще раз спасибо за вашу поддержку ♡" {Ее украинский адрес PayPal - <update after escape: see her own Journal here[at]gmail.com>, который я проверил, и он работает}

Comments that seem to align with the (third option) or with corrections to the language of the (third option) are only welcome if the person writing the Comment actually sends a donation to Dogava or her designated agent to help her flee from danger, otherwise the Comment will be hidden.

On vacation for a few days
Posted 3 years agoI'm going to be on vacation for a few days and may not be checking FA or other social media. I've been burning out and need to take a rest. Hopefully the world will still be here when I get back.
I put a lot of energy into making 'regional focus' Journals for some of the most hard-hit regions of Ukraine, please check them out and see if there is anyone you can help (even if just by giving them a warm comment or 'signal boost'):
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10225029/ -- Kharkiv/Kharkov region artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10203165/ -- Donbas/Donbass region artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10230885/ -- Southern Ukraine region artists, furries, and stories on FurAffinity
[update 7 June 2022: I am back but my responses may be slow for a while, I am trying to deal with the most urgent/important situations first]
