Not so long ago, a great scientist said, "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." I don't know if that's true, or if survival depends on all three qualities. But I think at least that our lives, our selves, are built more on change than on our abilities. Whatever the case, the changes in my life led me here, and now I can't imagine it any other way.
Coastal Maine. 1891. A textile-worker-turned-vagrant from nearby New Hampshire becomes the lightkeeper's assistant and must come to terms with his new location, his new venue, and certain feelings that could mean trouble if they are discovered.
Work and life get in the way, but I've been trying to do more with this story I've been working on.
Words can't express how grateful I am to
MoodyFerret for the absolutely stunning work she's done on this piece.
