Dos and Don'ts for dealing with depression!

DON'TS
1. Get any therapy or Psychological help
That crap's expensive, never really there when you most need it, and chances are by the time you get to your psychologist, you barely remember why you're even depressed in the first place. Also really, what matters more? Your mental health? Or the rent and groceries you need to pay to survive?
2. Ask your family or close relatives for help
It will be really awkward to express some of your worst secrets to something like your parents now would it? What if you believe in something that you have no idea what their stance on is, would they accept you if you were a gay furry communist? What would they think about you? What if they disown you? No, keep your problems to yourself, they don't need to know. Besides, you shouldn't be relying on your parents anyways, grow up.
3. Ask your friends for help
Your friends have their own problems, and frankly they've got better things to do than give you any assistance with your declining mental health. Besides, what if they're going through a similar situation as yourself, or worse? Do you want to make them more stressed out, or even get them suicidal? No, everything's FINE. Don't bother anyone, they're busy people. Besides, your problems are too deep rooted in systemic issues for them to help anyway.
4. Seek out things that you enjoy
This one often comes naturally, chances are if you're depressed, you are going through Anhedonia, which means over time you will soon realize that all your hobbies no longer make you happy anymore. Which just makes you even more miserable. You can always find new hobbies, but then again, you will just realize that nothing matters in the end.
DOS
1. Seek out stimulants
Drink a bunch, and take plenty of drugs, Alcohol, Caffinie, Sugar, whatever, they are usually guaranteed to ease the pain! Even if its only temporary, you'll at least feel your suffering cease for a while.
2. Hit those dopamine receptors
Buy shit, like, recklessly spend money on new things you probably don't need or won't benefit you in the long run, who doesn't like fancy new products? we were all built to be consumerists now aren't we? Besides everyone's doing it, so don't feel shame in spoiling yourself a little, if it makes you happy, it makes you happy.
3. Work, work, work
This is one of my favorite techniques! If you're working, you're probably too busy to think about how horrible your current situation is anyways, besides, chances are you're benefiting society in the process right? Just work your ass off, till you're exhausted, and collapse at the end of the day, you'll be too tired to even contemplate your existence!
4. Do your research
If things ever go too far for you, remember to look up on how you can properly off yourself! As there's nothing more frustrating than botching a suicide attempt. What's the right angle to fire into your brain if you're going the ballistic route? How many stories do you have to jump down in order for you to perish? Do you wish to suffocate, or break your neck by hanging? At what speed will being hit by a moving vehicle cause death by blunt force trauma? Remember, you want a survival rate of 0% Also, you might want to write a will, maybe give all your hard earned cash back to your parents they spent raising you, or your more successful family member who's married and started a family, living a better life than you are.
Follow these tips and you'll be cured of your depression in no time!
Okay, in actual seriousness, I made this journal for a legitimate reason. That being I feel this is how a lot of individuals dealing with depression or suicidal thoughts might rationalize their actions, as these are genuine thoughts I've had the past few months myself.
The idea is to maybe figure out how to potentially help or talk to someone who thinks this way. How do you explain to a person who knows of all the solutions, but will refuse to take them because of specific reasons? Even if you don't know what to say, I think it's at least something potentially worth considering.

FA+

And if in the end you know the solutions but dont want to take them, you're either low energy from the depression, or just not ready to take that step. Though in some cases there will be times you find people that don't want a solution. Sometimes they want to vent or complain to be heard. Alot of experiences with depression are different, they're all dealt with at their own pace, either through medication, therapy, or even just time.
Overall, if you know someone thats depressed, the best thing you can do I think is letting them know you care and support them, but not try to push along the progression of the depression, because while it may help in the short term, the forced progress could take 1 step forward and two steps back.
Which I'm a not a verri wise person and have trouble portraying thoughts, so take what I say with a grain of salt, and know its not meant to be mean in any way, and I hope you can find the answers you seek.
It's the same principle of being a lifeguard: if the person you are trying to rescue is pulling you down under, you have to let them go.
Also fuck greedy capitalist pigs like Donald Trump and his zealous yet poverty stricken fan base... Can't blame your current problems on the the Democrats forever.
Psychiatrists should charge less.
I can appreciate that they feel entitled to a better quality of life than 98.7% of the rest of the world's population, but they really don't really need $200 an hour.
In conclusion, it's the psychiatrists who are wrong.
Imagine all you had to do to "help" someone was just to listen to their story and give them your thoughts. Then imagine you refuse to do that for anyone unless they pay you a whole day's wage for an hour of your time. In this imaginary scenario, you'd be a bit of a greedy cunt, right?
I get that this journal is being sarcastic, but 1, 2, and 3 seem like solid advice.
#1 because of the money. No reason to spend $150 an hour to bounce ideas off a glorified chat bot.
#2 because your shitty family isn't going to magically get less shitty.
#3 because your friends aren't equipped to deal with these issues. You're just going to make them feel bad. Honestly, the "toxic" reasoning of the journal makes perfect sense. Nothing is worse than when you're already depressed and then your online friends are also hinting that they want to jump off a bridge.
In conclusion, if 1, 2, or 3 could solve depression, then almost no one would be depressed.
Signed, some depressed internet asshole.
