The idea is that children are incapable of giving consent, because they don't really know what they're doing. But, why is that? When that question is asked, anti-pedos will scream that it's because they can't understand all of the factors that are involved in a sexual relationship.

But when I ask them to define exactly what those factors are, what defining factors one must understand to make an informed decision about whether or not to have sex, they balk. They start giving me the runaround, trying to rely on circular logic. Then when I ask them why children are supposedly unable to understand those factors, the anti's run away.

To me, true pedophiles are not attracted to children just for sex. They are not twisted, sick monsters whose sole purpose in life is to strip children of their innocence. A true pedophile seeks a relationship with a child out of the same exact love that two, or more, supposed "adults" can feel for each other. It is a need for a connection of hearts, even if that relationship is forever only platonic. While true pedophiles [i[can[/i] also seek a sexual relationship with their partners, that is not the primary purpose.

The 90% of people who molest children that aren't pedophiles are what are known as Situational Offenders. They don't have sex with children because they are necessarily attracted to them in any long-term sense. They do it because the outlet is there, open to them at the time when all the stress on them (from whatever source) finally becomes too much and they snap under the pressure.

As for your second question, there is no answer; at least, not one that all parties can agree is satisfactory.
