So Kaykay got a really amusing comment on her main page while at my house, and it's just... ridiculously hilarious. It's been the subject of half of our conversations and is just a "wow... internet". It's so hilarious, I'm going to link it to you all. x3
BUT before you click this link, please promise me that you won't add to this shitstorm. This idiot did this on Kay's main page, so there's already a pretty substantial number of replies to this. No more are needed, and I'm not linking you guys in an attempt to white knight this person. They ended up rage-quitting DA anyway so it's pretty pointless at this point. And what's really sad about all of this- the drawing she did (and then bawleted) was actually really good. The ONLY problem that we really had with it was one single front leg with the joint bent in the completely wrong direction. But otherwise, I thought this girl really had potential.
And then the epic wangst of the century happened and now I am just amused. x3

The sad thing is that the chick APPROACHED Kaylink and asked if the piece looked good, and Kaylink gave her an honest crit. It was not negative at all, but she threw it all out of proportion.

Art is one of the most competitive fields to get into, it requires tons more then skill and talent alone. One of the major malfunctions of art is purpose, if you do it for anyone besides yourself then you're setting yourself up for disaster, the fall may take you a few hours or a few years but it will happen. You don't do art for money, fame, attention, trends, you do it for you. Getting those things along with it are nice when they happen but don't actively try to achieve them alone, it won't work and it won't make you happy.
Plainly put, this child was acting like a child - but I don't think that makes it okay for everyone else to act like one as well.
No shame in my journal either. x3 I find it amusing. This is just like linking a funny GIF animation or a macro of somebody failing something miserably. It's fun for those of us not really involved. If you can laugh at someone water-skiing into the side of a bridge, you can laugh at some kid asking for critique and then acting like we killed her mother when we give her a compliment.
Am I horrible person to laugh hysterically at that mental image? xDD
If you can't handle critique, don't ask for it.
Goodness, your art could be great- but if your personality is shit, then the art is really going to take the back seat. And if you are going to quit art after one critique, you obviously have no passion for it. :/ Sad, really.
It's unfortunate that you should get jumped like that, Kay. At least you got a laugh out of it, though. x3

There is no such thing as being the best artist ever. Even amazing artists who have skill are not the best. And hiding behind age is ridiculous. I saw an 8-year-old who could draw photo-realistic images. This kid was fucking 8!
But yeah, she's pretty ignorant. This reminds me of that person who asked for Avy's critique on youtube as well then bawwed about it because she "insulted" it. I don't understand why you guys get this many people who ask for for critique and then cry about it when it isn't asskissing. XD

As for the whole prodigy thing? Im sure half of us were that 'good' at the age of 12, iv seen 12 year old REAL prodigys who would put her to shame
But then she started asking for it, and now I have no sympathy, really. She's got to learn her lesson, and this seems like a nice wake up call. Just might take a few days for it to sink in.
Personally you critiquing my art (like the way I drew back legs especially) was one of the things that set me on the road to drawing shit more anatomically correct, by the way. x3
I saw them comment on NinjaPancake's page asking her to remove the drawing because she thought that every one of Pancake's watchers would start laughing at her because they would go through her faves and found it.
