Summer Summary
Well, considering I wasn't planning to go to any cons this year I made out pretty good. Went to Furthe'More back in April, really last minute pre-reg, etc., but I went and had a good time. Drove down to Tyson's Corner with
deer riding along. Stayed with
cheesebeagle and
tigris. Got to meet
sarahcat, who had a table in the artist's alley. Also saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time ever- might not ever again, but it was an experience and I'm glad I did. Also met a really nice lion buddy
cullion at the Fursuit Menagerie, which I enjoyed more than the parade (which they didn't have this year anyway). Really nice time at this con, which was well attended. As usual, saw lots of cool fursuiters. Ended the con by having dinner & a hilarious card game with Cheesbeagle & Tigris & friends. Good times.
deer was my riding buddy so it was an enjoyable drive home.
Skipped Anthrocon as planned, just absolutely could not afford it this year. BUT... I was there in spirit, all weekend! Watched the livestream at home, live as it happened in Pittsburgh. Watched the nightly dances up into the late hours, saw the masquerade, Anthrocon tonight, and Fox Amoore's live release of his new CD (The Dreamcatcher). Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Saw the fursuit parade as well. And the Dance Competitions! Love this livestream, lets me experience the con even if I can't be there. I actually took off Friday from work so I could be available to watch the con stream.
Went to the beach briefly, twice, in July & August- Wildwood & Cape May, NJ - toured 3 lighthouses. And wow, lots of bikinis everywhere (not complaining)!
Went to Furaffinty: United at the end of August, also somewhat unplanned. I had three goals for this convention: 1- get Fox Amoore's new CD & autograph; 2- perform in the talent show; and 3- meet and photograph lots of cool fursuiters. All three goals were accomplished, two of them on Friday. I also bought the HashTag CD & got it autographed (played it later and it's really good!).
* I played my flute in the talent show Friday night, performing Andrew Lloyd Webber's song "Memory" from the musical "Cats". It went pretty well, and was very well received. Made a few mistakes (probably because I was shaking) but overall it went to my expectation/satisfaction, and I plan to do more music performances in the future. Haven't been on the stage by myself in over a decade. And thanks to all the nice folks who complemented me, it means a lot. Kelix and Geel ran the show this year for VonDiggityDog, and I think they did a great job with it, making it fun and flow.
* On Saturday I ran into Lucy and Lina, two nice girls I met at my first FA:U in 2012; it was great seeing them again.
(Note: too many of my camera pictures are turning out blurry, I hope to get a DSLR this fall if I can afford it.)
* On Sunday before I left, Cheesebeagle kindly did a 50+ pic photoshoot of my Leostarr fursuit partial, which is up on Flickr with all his other pics from the con. Amazingly only one other person (I think) posted pics from this con (that I saw), and there were only 4 or so videos on YouTube. FA:U seemed to be not as well attended as FTM, though I still had a great time and plan to return next year. I hope it survives!
My birthday is this coming Saturday. Hopefully I'll get a cake with Everest (from Paw Patrol) on it... omg she's cute. Would actually like to have an online party Sat night if I could figure how to set up for such a thing- fursuit stream, of course, would need to have YouTube or Vimeo or Skype or some kind of video group chat... hmmm, don't know, we'll see. It'd be a drag to fursuit on Sat. by myself & not share it with anyone. But prob too hard to put together at this late date.

FA+

Telegram seems to be quite popular with the furries these days. All my furry friends have it. I heard about it enough to know that there are art stickers you can use with it, beyond that don't know much. I looked into it and they wanted a cell phone number which raised a flag with me. I don't really have a cell phone plan- just a pay-as-you-go phone I use pretty much exclusively to keep in touch with my partner, or also with a few close friends at cons. I pay for every minute I use, talk or text, so I'm not giving that number out to Telegram, so no I do not have it. Sorry! I'd love to talk to you sometime.
I know it can sync with your phone but I have it on my computer as well. It's real convenient and I don't necessarily think it draws from that but I have a monthly plan or whatnot, maybe it requires some research. Either way, I find it handy.
