On April 28th of 2024, I reached out to Mr_Jager/Marlett for a sketch commission! I really liked their art, they were actively uploading, and communication was fine, but they expressed having some life issues in about the middle of May. I was very understanding, and was willing to wait, but I did need to poke her a few times. Got the lines finished in June and was just waiting on a fix to move forward with colors. Afterwards, I never heard back and saw the message on their page from their partner about internet issues, and being in Russia, I kind of understood. The message stated that we would hear back from them sometime in October, which came and went, so I reached out to their partner. She gave me Marlett's telegram, so I sent a message on December 3rd to follow up. I was left on read, poked again, and got a response on December 7th saying they would have a look and send me a WIP on that weekend. I expressed sympathy that I know about her situations and was ok with waiting...but nothing. Sent another message on January 27th wondering what was going on, but no response.

My last message was on February 16th, and I expressed my frustrations and disappointment at it all, mentioned once more that I am sorry for whatever was happening on their end, but I can only be so patient, and this was very unfair for me as a client to have no communication. I told Marlett that I need to either see the art done soon or I need my money back somehow, but I was again left on read. I left a message on their page expressing frustration and urging people to not do business with them, and on April 6th, I got a note by someone they apparently worked with in the past, mentioning how they were supposed to have a collaboration that never happened, and a client didn't receive their art, which means I am not the only victim. I was then informed that Marlett was active on Russian social media, still drawing for people there. Sure enough, if you look at Marlett's VK profile, there many uploads of art after i've commissioned them and they claim that they've been having all sorts of problems. Allegedly, Marlett has been doing this for many years where they forget about a client, and makes excuses to invoke sympathy, while in reality, they're just shrugging off the work they took on.

May 1st, they told me they'd have a look at the order and get back to me, but whether that is actually true or not, I don't know. To be honest, and not to toot my own horn here, it's quite pathetic how even as an amateur artist myself with a busy life, I can get a simple sketch done in just a few days. Whether I get my art at this point, I don't care, and if so is just a matter of principal. Right now, I simply want other people to know that this is not a kind person to be wasting your time, trying to do business with.

Edit: As of the first week of June, not only did I never receive a follow-up on my order, but Marlett has uploaded 16 more pieces of artwork to their VK over the course of May.

Edit 2: It seems I was mistaken and Marlett admits that these are actually AI images, which is even more sad, considering this means they are taking commissions on VK for AI generated artwork. In addition, now i've blatantly been stolen from. My work, Their AI slop

Just goes to reinforce the point to please avoid this "artist".
